Paul Anderson feels the quality and the intensity of the Giants’ pre-season work is increasing with the return of every one of his World Cup stars.

Wales duo Craig Kopczak and Larne Patrick and Ireland’s Scott Grix reported back for duty on Monday and their return was warmly welcomed by their Huddersfield teammates and coaching staff.

Giants chief Anderson is delighted with the positive impact the trio have made and aid: “The more players we get back, the better the quality of the work will be.

It’ll be the start of the new year before we get everyone back, but we’ve now got players coming back all the time, and that’s clearly making a difference.

“It was good to see Craig, Larne and Scott back this week, and you could tell how much they had enjoyed the experience of being part of such a successful World Cup competition.

“When you’ve got limited numbers training, you’re obviously very restricted in the work you can do out on the training field. But it’s becoming easier now, and the quality and intensity of the sessions is increasing all the time. That’s what we wanted to see.”

Among those who are taking part in the sessions are multi-talented part-time teenagers Tyler Dickinson, Liam Johnson and Jared Simpson.

And Anderson has been full of praise for the contribution prop Dickinson, back-rower Johnson and utility back Simpson have been making.

“These are three very talented young players and I’m sure they’ll benefit from this experience,” he added. “They’re getting a taste of just what’s expected of a Super League player.”
