IN-FORM Huddersfield Giants captain Danny Brough knows only his side’s very best will be good enough against Warrington Wolves in tomorrow’s top-of-the-table Super League XVIII clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

A victory for the second-placed Giants would help coach Paul Anderson’s men open up a five-point gap on the third-placed Wolves and also help them keep the pressure on leaders Wigan Warriors.

But even though the Giants head into the contest seeking a sixth successive victory and fresh from a magnificent 28-20 triumph at Catalan Dragons, Brough knows his side will need to find an extra gear if they are to secure an 11th victory from 14 top-flight starts.

“Warrington are a class team,” acknowledged the match-winning half-back.

“You don’t get to Super League Grand Finals and win three Challenge Cups in the last four years if you’re not a top side.

“They have threats all over the field. They have smart halves, Brett Hodgson out the back and a big pack, so you can’t count any of them out.

“As a result, we know we’ve got to be at our best if we’re going to get anything from the game. If we’re not at our best they’ll hurt us.

“But playing the top teams tends to bring the best out of us.

“We’ve beaten Wigan (the leaders) at home and Super League champions Leeds away so far this season, so we know we’re capable of knocking off the top sides.

“That’ll give us extra confidence for tomorrow’s game, which means it’s one we’re looking forward to.

“It should be great.”
