HUDDERSFIELD Giants' Aaron Murphy is ready to take Super League XVIII by storm!

That’s the prediction from former Wakefield coach John Kear, who helped mould the 24-year-old into an established Super League player during their time together at the Wildcats.

Murphy (pictured right) made the switch to the Giants at the end of the 2011 season, but had an injury-hit first season at Huddersfield.

That meant he featured in just 15 first-team games and scored seven tries.

But former Giants coach Kear knows that if Murphy enjoys a clean bill of health in 2013, he’ll prove a major hit at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“Take it from me, Aaron is a really gifted rugby league player,” said Batley coach Kear, whose Co-operative Championship club have now officially linked up with Huddersfield.

“Unfortunately, he’s had that injury-disrupted season, which meant the Giants fans haven’t been able to see the best of him yet.

“But if he can steer clear of injuries next season, I’ve no doubt he’ll become a vitally important member of the squad and begin to establish himself.

“I don’t know what role he could end up playing.

“But when he was with me at Wakefield when we were in administration in 2011, he was our best winger, our best centre and best full-back.

“So I know how valuable he can be to the Giants, and I know (Huddersfield coach) Paul Anderson feels the same way too.

“After last season, Aaron deserves a lucky break, and if he does then I know the Giants fans will be delighted with what they see.”
