Huddersfield Giants centurion Joe Wardle expects his side to show Salford Red Devils no mercy in tomorrow’s Super League XX clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The 23-year-old centre will make his 100th senior Huddersfield appearance as head coach Paul Anderson’s third-placed side look to make it five wins on the trot.

Win No4 was achieved last Friday when the Giants triumphed 29-10 at Warrington to secure their first success over the Wolves since 2011.

And in-form Scotland international Wardle knows an equally ruthless display against the Red Devils will guarantee he celebrates his claret and gold century in the best possible style.

“To reach 100 Giants appearances is a great achievement, and I’m delighted,” said Wardle, who arrived from Bradford Bulls four years ago.

“But it won’t mean anything if we don’t beat Salford.

“All I’m really bothered about is making sure we build on our great win at Warrington and keep on climbing the table.

“Our confidence was pretty high before we went to Warrington and it’s obviously still right up there, so the last thing we want to do now is take a backward step tomorrow.

“Over the last few weeks we’ve shown what we can do if we work hard for each other and take our chances. We need to make sure we become even more ruthless.”

And Wardle isn’t the least bit concerned about having to back-up the Good Friday clash with an Easter Monday fixture at Hull KR.

“I don’t see what people complain about,” he added.

“It doesn’t bother me at all playing two games over Easter, and I know that’s a view shared by a lot of the boys.

“Personally, I hate all the training we have to do. As far as I’m concerned, the more games I play, the better.

“So having to go straight from playing Salford to Hull KR is fine.”
