Joe Wardle will miss the Huddersfield Giants home clash against St Helens on Sunday after accepting an Early Guilty Plea.

The Huddersfield centre was charged with making a Grade B dangerous throw on Ben Cockayne in the 21st minute of the Easter Monday Super League XX game at Hull KR.

And Giants chief Paul Anderson is happy to accept the punishment.

“We’ve no complaints at all,” said Anderson, whose player would have faced a one to two-match ban if found guilty at a disciplinary hearing.

“To be honest, I wasn’t surprised he was called up, because the challenge didn’t look good.

“But Joe’s not a dirty player, and that’s counted in his favour with just the one-game ban and the fact he’ll be back for the Catalans home game the following week.”
