Delighted Leroy Cudjoe would love to play for England against New Zealand this autumn - with Giants teammates Jermaine McGillvary and Brett Ferres by his side.

The Huddersfield trio have been named in national coach Steve McNamara’s 24-man squad for the international clash against France on Saturday, October 24 and the three-Test series against the Kiwis, which gets under way the following week.

In-form centre Cudjoe admits he didn’t fancy his chances of making the final cut.

But now he’s in, he’s set his sights on playing a big England role, and knows his Huddersfield Super League clubmates can also be key national performers.

“I was over the moon when I was told I was in the squad,” said Cudjoe, who is back in the England squad after missing out last season.

“To be honest, I thought I might be missing out.

“But I think (Brisbane Broncos’ English centre) Jack Reed pulling out through injury has given me an opportunity.

“I now just want to get my head down, enjoy being back in the England set-up and take my chance if comes.

“What makes it even better is that I’m going to be involved with Brett and Jerry, and hopefully we can all play some part in winning the Test series against New Zealand. To be out on the field together would be great for us and great for the Giants!”
