Ken Davy is confident the Huddersfield Giants can celebrate his 20th year as club chairman by collecting a major piece of silverware in 2015.

The Huddersfield rugby league club’s owner will next season have spent two decades in charge, with the Giants having become a major Super League force during that time.

Davy knows it’s going to take something special for his club to build on winning the Super League Leaders’ Shield in 2013 and lift the Super League trophy at Old Trafford or Challenge Cup at Wembley.

But with the squad and coaching staff at the Giants’ disposal, along with a move into a new state-of-the-art custom-made gym on Leeds Road which will significantly improve the players’ training regime, the club’s ambitious leader knows 2015 could finally be his club’s year to sweep all before them.

“There’s a really positive feel around the club and a steely determination among the group that our time could be about to come,” predicted Davy.

“I would be immensely proud to be chairman of this great club when we finally win a Grand Final or Challenge Cup final, and it would be a real dream if it could be achieved in 2015.

“Next year will be my 20th as club chairman, and during that time I’ve seen us rise and rise to the point where we are now regarded as genuine challengers for the top honours in the game.

“It was hard to put into words exactly how proud I felt when in 2013 Huddersfield finished top of the table for the first time in 81 years and lifted the Super League Leaders’ Shield.

“But I know how much more incredible it would feel to pick up the Super League trophy or Challenge Cup – or both! – in such a significant year for me.

“We’re now getting that close to achieving the top prizes that we can almost smell it and taste it.

“It’s not going to be easy to take that final step – it’s arguably the hardest of them all – but with the combined power of the players, coaching staff and supporters, I know anything is possible for this club.”
