HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS coach Nathan Brown watched his side move two points clear at the top of Super League and announced: “We’ve achieved nothing yet!”

Huddersfield underlined their title credentials with a rock-solid 22-4 triumph over second-placed Hull FC, who were searching for their seventh successive win.

But the Giants showed why they’re top by scoring three quality tries, while restricting their visitors to two penalties.

It was an effort that delighted Brown, although he’s desperate to keep everyone’s feet on the ground.

“We played the side coming second and to not let them score a try was terrific,” he said. “They’ve got some really good attacking players and to be able to shut them down was pleasing.

“We expected and got a tough game, and it was great to get the two League points.

“But it’s still far too early for anyone to suggest at this stage that we’re THE team in Super League.

“For us, it’s still all about going one week at a time, so all that we’re bothered about now is the Cup-tie at Hull next Sunday.

“We’ll then start to think about Super League again after that.”

Brown was particularly thrilled with the performance of Brough, who tormented his former club with both his mighty boot and dazzling feet as well as kicking five goals from as many attempts.

“I thought he was the stand-out player on the field,” he said. “He had a great all-round game. He ticked all the boxes.”
