Have you decided what sort of side you’re going to put out against Swinton Lions yet?

It will be a strong one.

There will be one or two changes, but certainly nothing too dramatic.

It’s been decided to give Eorl Crabtree and Jerry McGillvary a week off, because they’ve hardly missed so far this season. I’m sure they’ll benefit from the break.

Kev Brown’s been carrying a couple of niggles, so he’ll have the week off, too.

And Larne Patrick has this week had a screw removed from the hand he broke during pre-season training. That’ll rule him out.

But, apart that, we’ll be running with the same group of players who have been doing so well over the past few weeks, and that’s very important.

We’re obviously keen to play as many of those who missed a fair bit of the start of the season through injury as we can.

They all need game-time now, so they need to play rather than take a rest.

The final squad won’t actually be decided until later today at the earliest, but it certainly won’t be a bunch of kids running out there for us this weekend, that’s for sure.

Every single player that’ll play for the Giants this weekend has Super League experience and is 100% capable of doing a top-class job.

And we also know we need to play well to guarantee success against Swinton.

We’ve now had the chance to take a good look at them, and they do play with a lot of structure.

They have half-backs with a good passing game and wingers who are big and strong, so there’s no way we’ll be taking them for granted.

You obviously rested Greg Eden and played Aaron Murphy at full-back at Bradford. Have you decided who’ll get the nod this weekend?

They’ll both play, although Aaron is set to play in a different position, because he’s such a good utility player.

And that’s certainly no reflection on the way he played at full-back against the Bulls, when I thought he did a great job.

To be honest, I thought all our back three were outstanding.

As everyone knows, it was a real bog out there, which made handling extremely difficult.

But ‘Murph’ and our two wingers (Luke George and Jermaine McGillvary) didn’t make a single error, which in the conditions was a very special effort indeed.

Having said that, we’re now looking for Greg to come back in at full-back this weekend.

Greg’s obviously still a young kid and is new to this level of footy, and after playing all through Easter and virtually every other game as well, we felt it was time to give him a rest.

Hopefully, we’ll immediately see the benefit of this.

The decision was taken not to bring Scott Moore straight back into the side at Bradford following his arrival from Widnes. What were the reasons behind that?

Scotty wasn’t quite fit enough for where we need him to be.

But we do intend to play him against Swinton in the Cup.

He is training very hard and doing all the right things, but we’ll have to wait and see how his fitness levels are before we decide whether to consider him for the trip to Catalan for the Super League game the following week.

Were you pleased with Keith Mason’s contribution at Bradford in what was a rare start this year?

Very pleased. He did just what we’d asked of him.

He’s obviously not played much this season for a variety of reasons.

But at the weekend he got through a lot of work early on and helped lay a very strong platform for us.

We wanted him to get a very good 15 minutes under his belt, and that’s exactly what he did, and now it’s a case of Keith trying to build on that.

Because Keith has had a couple of injuries and some personal things to deal with on top of that, he’s only played a handful of Super League games this season.

But in the past month, he’s played a full 80 minutes in reserve grade and now feature in two senior games, so he is starting to do what’s required. It’s very promising.

One very disappointing part of the Bradford game was the second-half sin-binning of Luke O’Donnell. What was your take on it?

It was a poor decision, but fortunately it didn’t matter in the final analysis.

He came in to help Broughy out when he was on the floor, he didn’t throw a punch at all. He just tried to drag a Bradford player away.

The key after that was the way we responded to the decision, and that response was great.

Even though we were down to 12 men for 10 minutes late in the game, we kept our composure and our energy levels remained good.
