Delighted Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson knows newly-recognised ‘world’s best winger’ Jermaine McGillvary can get even better.

The 27-year-old Super League Dream Team member’s 2015 season has now reached new heights with his selection in the official World XIII.

That global recognition came less than a week after Huddersfield-born McGillvary marked his full England debut by helping his country secure a 2-1 Test series triumph over New Zealand.

McGillvary’s performance on the day was the deciding factor in him joining Leeds Rhinos centre Kallum Watkins as the only Englishman in the World XIII team chosen by a panel of rugby league experts from around the globe.

And Anderson believes it’s an honour McGillvary has thoroughly deserved.

“At the beginning of the year, there’s no way Jerry would have thought he’d have been capable of doing what he’s just done for England against New Zealand, let alone be named in the World XIII,” said Anderson.

“I challenged him back then to focus all of his attention on trying to be the best he could be, and the results obviously speak for themselves.

“And that will be his challenge again for next year.

“Before he made his debut against New Zealand last weekend, they probably didn’t know anything about him, but they do now – as do a lot more after the events of last week.

“All this won’t do Jerry any harm at all, and an even bigger positive is that all this will only help him get even better.”
