Fuming Giants coach Paul Anderson has blasted the challenge from Hull’s Gareth Ellis that forced Luke Robinson to leave the field with concussion after 60 minutes of his side’s hard-fought 22-16 triumph at the KC Stadium.

But the Huddersfield boss is hoping the incident doesn’t take the gloss off the second-placed Giants’ 16th victory of the season which keeps them one point behind leaders Wigan with six games of the regular season remaining.

Robinson was victim of an alleged shoulder charge from the England back-row forward.

And although the Giants half-back had come round by the time his team returned home, Anderson was still seething over the incident – which was in the build-up to Hull’s third try and helped them level the scores at 16-16 – as his club left the east coast.

“It’s a straight shoulder charge straight to the head. He wasn’t knocked out for no reason,” said Anderson.

“There are five people out there – one with a whistle, two with flags and two muppets stood at the other end of the field – and they don’t see anything. And nothing will get done about it.

“We’ve got access to the video and it’s a straight shoulder charge to the head, it was as simple as that.

“It’s just a massive shame that this has overshadowed another great win for us.

“It was another great defensive effort from us, but again we found a way to win, and I couldn’t be more delighted for the boys over that.

“I’m also absolutely delighted for the fans who made the trip over there. Their support really took us home in the final 20 minutes after Robbo had gone, and I can’t thank them enough for that invaluable contribution.”
