Huddersfield Giants chief Paul Anderson is hoping to take the momentum of his side’s five-game winning run into what he knows could be a critical stage of the Super League campaign.

Huddersfield followed up wins over Salford, Wakefield, Castleford and London, with yesterday’s convincing 54-16 Magic Weekend triumph over Bradford Bulls.

That puts the Giants in good heart for their Friday trip to St Helens and with games at home to champions Wigan the following Thursday and away to Leeds eight days later, Anderson is hoping his side is ready to peak at just the right time.

“We have got some big games ahead of us and having built up this winning run we are looking forward to that challenge,” said Anderson, who took off Jodie Broughton with a slight hernia problem in the second half which shouldn’t rule him out of contention for the Saints trip.

We obviously weren’t at our very best against the Bulls, although they did have something to say about that early on.

“They did what we were hoping to do from the start.

“But as the game went on we really began to dominate and earned the right to play some of the rugby we did.

“In the end it was job well done and another two good league points.

“Now we have to make sure we build on this at what is a crucial time of the season for us.”
