THE Giants have returned to pre-season training without Brad Drew.
The Super League club have confirmed the popular Australian has moved on and won’t be involved in the Super League XVI campaign.
That was always likely to be the case, however, with the 35-year-old half-back or hooker being used as first-team cover last season after signing a one-year deal.
He finished the 2010 campaign as coach of the club’s Under 20 side and is now expected to pursue a career in that field.
“Brad returned home at the end of the season after he had finished with us and won’t be rejoining the Giants,” confirmed managing director Richard Thewlis.
“But I know one of his long-term goals is to get into coaching.
“So, like everyone else, I monitor the rumours with interest linking him to possible positions in the UK!”
Giants head coach Nathan Brown, meanwhile, is today hoping to catch up with injured scrum half Luke Robinson following his return from New Zealand last night.
The 26-year-old half-back or hooker is now due to have an operation on the elbow he dislocated during England’s weekend win over Papua New Guinea in Auckland, before undergoing shoulder surgery.
