Scott Grix, Michael Lawrence and Kyle Wood could all come into coach Paul Anderson’s thinking for Friday’s Super League XX clash at Wigan Warriors.

The Huddersfield chief has been checking on the fitness of the fit-again trio after they played for the first time since major surgery for dual-registration club Oldham in Sunday’s 11-10 Championship trial defeat at champions Leigh Centurions.

Grix underwent shoulder surgery and Lawrence a wrist operation at the end of last season, while Wood had a major knee reconstruction after suffering a serious injury at home to Catalans Dragons last August.

They weren’t considered for the home Super League opener against Hull as they weren’t involved in the warm-up game at Halifax two weeks earlier.

But in the wake of the 19-0 defeat at the hands of the Black and Whites, they may come into contention for the trip to the DW Stadium – if they can prove their fitness.

“That run-out will have done them a lot of good and we’ve be checking to see how they’ve come through,” said Anderson, whose side were injury-free against Hull.

“We also had Nathan Mason and Ollie Roberts playing for Oldham the other day, which meant the two blokes who didn’t make the 17 on Sunday (Jake Connor and Josh Johnson) and Bobby Fairbank and Micky Learmonth were the only ones who didn’t have a game at the weekend. Obviously, the more competition for places and options we have, the better.”
