Huddersfield Giants chief Paul Anderson could field the same 17 for Sunday’s home Super League XXI clash against Widnes Vikings.
With all of his injured stars remaining on the sidelines, Anderson is set to keep faith with the side that was so desperately unlucky to suffer the heartbreaking 18-13 defeat to Wigan Warriors at the John Smith’s Stadium 13 days ago.
That means teenage centre Sam Wood is in line to continue in the three-quarters to partner experienced trialist winger Jamie Foster, with the duo having produced highly-encouraging debuts against the Warriors.
But if Anderson does name an unchanged side against the Vikings, he’ll expect them to do even better than they did against Wigan.
“It looks like it’ll be the same 19-man squad this week, and possibly the same matchday 17,” confirmed Anderson, who has just 21 fit players to work with in training this week.
“I think everyone was encouraged with a lot of the things we did against Wigan the other week.
“The challenge against Widnes on Sunday is to make sure we do those things even better.
“If we do that then we know we’ll give ourselves an excellent chance. We certainly go into the game expecting to win.”
