Super League Man of Steel Danny Brough is on a three-man shortlist for the 2013 international player-of-the-year award.

The inspirational 30-year-old Giants captain enjoyed the most successful year of his career, guiding his club to a first top-of-the-table finish for 81 years and leading Scotland to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Australia centre Greg Inglis and New Zealand second-row forward Sonny Bill Williams are Brough’s rivals for the coveted title, which will be awarded at the Rugby League International Federation dinner in Manchester next Wednesday

Shortlisted for coach of the year are Wigan’s Shaun Wane, his predecessor Michael Maguire, who led South Sydney to their most successful season for generations, and former Catalan Dragons boss Trent Robinson, who guided the Roosters to Grand-Final glory in his first season back in the NRL.

Souths’ England forward George Burgess is competing with Samoa full-back Anthony Milford (Canberra) and Kangaroos second rower Boyd Cordner (Sydney Roosters) for the title of rookie of the year and England’s Richard Silverwood is vying with Australian duo Ben Cummins and Shayne Hayne to become referee of the year.
