NATHAN BROWN is determined to make sure the Huddersfield Giants take full advantage of being drawn at home to fellow Super League side London Broncos in the quarter-final of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

But he has already warned his players they can’t take anything for granted.

Brown’s men are red-hot favourites to progress to the semi-final of rugby league’s most famous knockout competition when they face the struggling Broncos at the Galpharm over the weekend of May 11-13 (the date has yet to be confirmed).

Victory for Super League leaders Huddersfield would take them to within one game of a Wembley final in August.

And the Galpharm chief is determined to make sure his side leaves nothing to chance when it comes to their last-eight clash against the men from the capital.

“Our first wish was to get a home draw, and we’ve got that,” said Brown.

“I suppose you could also say it’s a favourable draw, because we’ve avoided the leading clubs in the competition and will play the team that’s second bottom of Super League.

“But the Cup is all about what you do on the day. You’re looking for the one-off performance in this competition, and if you play well you’ll give yourself a chance of going into the hat, but if you lose you’re gone.

“We don’t want to be gone at this stage.

“We’ll be doing everything within our power to make sure we get into the semi-final, and then do everything we can to make sure we get to Wembley.

“Playing there in the 2009 final was an incredible experience, and it would be fantastic to experience that again.”

Brown also knows a big Super League performance at Catalan Dragons would stand them in good stead for the Cup game the following week.

“Although there was some talk yesterday about the draw, most of the focus has been on Catalan this weekend,” he added.

“We know it’s another tough challenge, because they’ve got an excellent home record.

“But we’re determined to keep our two-point lead at the top, and that means having to put in a big performance.

“If we did that, it would set us up nicely for the Cup-tie the following week.”
