Huddersfield Giants are already making moves to build their Super League squad for 2016.

Prop forward Anthony Mullally is set to join Leeds Rhinos, while the Giants are reportedly ready to sign New Zealand Warriors Sam Rapira.

Kiwi international forward Rapira is hoping to embark on a career in Super League after announcing he is to leave NRL outfit Warriors at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Hamilton-born prop, who was a member of the Kiwis’ 2008 World Cup-winning team, has reportedly told his teammates he has decided to make his 10th season in the NRL his last.

The Rhinos in turn have announced that they will be signing Giants front-rower Mullally on a three-year contract for next season.

The Giants were disappointed to learn of Mullally’s decision to leave the club at the end of the 2015 season.

The Giants said that the prop forward had been offered improved and extended Giants terms some months back to remain at the club which the club had hoped would be accepted.

Giants managing director Richard Thewlis Said: “It’s disappointing and rare when players who we give the opportunity to remain here chose to move on, especially given our offer and the fact that Anthony is playing here week in week out.

“However, we respect his decision and the process that allows these moves to occur now and have every confidence that Anthony will continue to give his all as a Giant for the remainder of 2015.”

Mullally, who actually lives in Headingley, said: “It is great to have agreed a three-year contract with a club like the Rhinos with all the success they have had over recent years.

“Huddersfield have been very good to me so I wanted to make sure that I got the process finalised as quickly as possible.

“I have spoken to a number of people who know the Rhinos club and everything I have heard is very positive and I am looking forward to being part of that culture.

“Once 1st May came round and I could speak to other clubs, I was keen to get my future sorted so I can focus on the remainder of my time with Huddersfield until the end of the season.

“I live in Headingley already and I know a few of the boys especially Brett Delaney and I played against Kallum Watkins a lot when we were youngsters so hopefully it will not take long to settle in.”
