Giants duo Danny Brough and Joe Wardle have been named in the Scotland squad for this autumn’s European Championship campaign.

They are part of an initial 26-man, which head coach Steve McCormack will reduce to 20 ahead of the opening game against Wales at Workington’s Derwent Park on Friday, October 17.

Giants half-back Brough is again expected to be named Scotland skipper – a role he fulfilled superbly in helping his country reach the quarter-finals of last season’s World Cup – with Huddersfield Player of the Year Wardle guaranteed to take one of the centre spots after an outstanding 2014.

Wardle missed Scotland’s World Cup campaign to undergo shoulder and knee surgery, with his inclusion this time around providing McCormack with a major boost.

Also in the squad are former Giants Sam Barlow, Iain Morrison and Adam Walker, with Scotland following their opening fixture against Wales with a clash against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, October 25 and home game against France at Galashiels on Friday, October 31.
