Huddersfield Giants chief Paul Anderson will wait until tomorrow before making a decision over whether Luke Robinson and Larne Patrick will feature in Sunday’s home Super League clash against Castleford Tigers.

Half-back Robinson missed the Easter victories over Salford and Wakefield with a couple of niggles, while back-row forward Patrick made a successful return to action with a strong performance at Salford and then lasted five minutes against Wakefield before picking up a rib injury.

Those were Patrick’s first matches since suffering a knee injury in Huddersfield’s opening-night triumph at champions Wigan.

And with the explosive forward having been impressive against the Red Devils and in-form Robinson having shown some consistent form before his enforced break, Anderson is hoping the duo will be able to force themselves back into the frame.

“They both trained fully for the first time yesterday,” reported Anderson. “All being well, they’ll be able to train well again today, and we’ll then make a final decision after that. It does look promising.

“Having said that, it doesn’t mean they can take their selection for granted, because we do have a pretty strong squad at our disposal.

David Faiumu (compassionate leave) and Kruise Leeming (ankle) were the only players unable to train fully yesterday.

“So apart from those two and Brett Ferres (he still has two games of a five-match suspension to serve following his sending-off during the controversial Challenge Cup loss to St Helens), everybody is available.”
