Scott Grix and Oli Roberts aim to ruin the European Championship hopes of their own Huddersfield Giants captain.

Full-back Grix and loose forward Roberts are in the Ireland squad determined to beat Danny Brough’s Scotland at Galashiels in the second set of championship matches.

Scotland need a win on home soil to keep alive their hopes of defending the title, after going down in their opener to Wales at Wrexham, while Ireland are also bidding to recover from losing their opening match to France in Albi.

Giants coach Paul Anderson will simply be hoping all three emerge from the match at Netherdale unscathed, as his Super League squad return to training in just a couple of weeks, on Monday, November 9.

Brough is in a Scotland side featuring Gala (rugby union) debutants winger Craig Robertson and half-back Lewis Clarke, while Ireland have made just one change, with Batley’s Sean Hesketh replacing the injured Haydn Peacock.

Former Huddersfield Rugby Union Club player Elliot Cosgrove, also with Batley RL, is in the Ireland squad, along with Halifax duo Ben Johnston and Luke Ambler.
