HUDDERSFIELD Giants will be hoping to put the bitter disappointment of Sunday’s narrow Valvoline Cup defeat at Bradford Bulls behind them and secure a much-needed home triumph against Castleford Tigers at the YMCA tonight (7.30).

The Giants threw away an 18-10 half-time lead at Odsal to lose 26-22 to the Bulls, despite fielding a side boasting several players who have featured in Super League this season.

Andy Raleigh, Gregg McNally, Kyle Wood and Jamie Cording were all in the starting line-up but couldn’t help the club’s Under 20s side get the job done.

Their points came through tries from Raleigh, Wood, Sam Fletcher and Dave Orwell, while McNally landed three goals.

The 20s are also in action on Saturday and face a daunting trip to tackle Wigan Warriors at the Co-operative Community Stadium (11.30am).

Huddersfield’s Under 18s Academy side also face Wigan this week, hosting the Warriors at the YMCA on Saturday (2.00).

And the youngsters will be in good heart after their narrow 30-26 triumph at Bradford last weekend when they fought back from a 22-6 half-time deficit to emerge victorious.

Their tryscorers were Jake Shoel (2), Liam Coe, Kyle Mayall, Peter Aspinall and Josh Johnson, while Ben Whitehead added three goals.
