Luke Robinson feels the Huddersfield Giants are getting closer to putting a Super League XX rival to the sword.

Huddersfield made it two top-flight triumphs on the trot with Thursday’s 22-0 victory over Castleford Tigers at the John Smith’s Stadium.

But even though the Giants had little trouble building on the 24-12 home win over Widnes the week before, their attacking performance against the Tigers was still far from impressive.

And Robinson knows that has to be seen as a positive.

“We showed a few glimpses against Cas of what we can do, but we were our own worse enemy a lot of the time,” said Robinson, whose side will look to make it a hat trick of triumphs at Wakefield Wildcats next Sunday.

“But even though our attacking performance was nowhere near as good as it should be, we got ourselves out of trouble by working hard for each other on defence, which was a good sign. In that first half we made about 55 tackles on our own tryline.

“Much of that pressure was down to us not showing enough patience and discipline on attack and simply giving the opposition the ball back by trying to find passes that aren’t on.

“Once we get that out of our system and come up with the right attacking options, we know we’ll put a team to the sword. It’s only a matter of time now.”
