Kyle Wood could be the only Huddersfield Giants’ star unavailable for the home Super League clash against Widnes Vikings on Sunday week.

England centre Leroy Cudjoe (hip), winger Jodie Broughton (foot/ankle), prop Antonio Kaufusi (calf) and back-row forward Ukuma Ta’ai (groin) all sat out last weekend’s 36-18 win at Wakefield as the Giants confirmed their place in the Super League play-offs with four games of the regular season remaining.

But all four are expected to be available for selection, as will full-back Scott Grix who was taken off as a precaution against the Wildcats at half-time after suffering a slight recurrence of the groin injury he suffered at home to Salford a month ago.

And with hooker Shaun Lunt having made a successful return to action following a two-month calf injury lay-off, it means long-term injury victim Wood (knee reconstruction) is the only senior squad man out of the frame.

“Over the past couple of weeks we’ve copped our fair share of bumps and bruises,” said Anderson, whose side isn’t in action this weekend because of the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

“So, in that respect, the week off shouldn’t do us any harm at all.

“Touch wood, the only player who won’t be available for Widnes is Woody, which isn’t a bad place to be in at this stage of the year.”
