Huddersfield Giants have this weekend lost an unwanted Super League record.

London Broncos’ 18-10 defeat at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats made it 16 defeats on the trot at the start of the 2014 campaign.

And that’s one more than the Giants when they opened their 2001 season with 15 straight losses.

But despite claiming an unenviable statistic, Broncos boss Joe Grima is remaining upbeat ahead of his side’ trip to Huddersfield on Saturday.

“We want to win so bad we can taste it,” said Grima, straight after his side’s battling display against the Wildcats.

“We’ve got a group of players who can rival teams in the top eight for togetherness.

“That’s the sort of stuff that makes me want to get up every morning – the willingness of the guys to win.

“It was our execution that let us down against Wakefield, but that was the best performance defensively we’ve had.

“And that gives us hope that all is not lost.”
