Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson was glad to have got a job done after his side moved into fourth place in Super League on Friday night.

The Giants supremo came in for a lot of flak from Salford Red Devils fans at the AJ Bell Stadium after his strong stance on the suspension of Rangi Chase.

However, he was happy to hand credit to the Salford team for making his side battle for a 19-0 win – gaining some payback for an 18-12 reversal at the John Smith’s Stadium over Easter.

“We were dogged and workmanlike, but I think that what Salford had missing in personnel had an impact on what they could throw at us,” said Anderson.

“We still had to match their effort and Salford worked their socks off.

“I have been accused of being disrespectful towards them, but I can only give them credit for the way they played against us and for the way they have played for the past few weeks.

“Any team is going to struggle with the kind of players they have been missing but they definitely made us worked hard for each other.

“The game was pretty poor, the conditions didn’t help, but it showed what a great player Danny Brough is and the conditions were perfect for for him.

“He is a tough little thing and what he will do for you is challenge their line and he has the kicking game and the conditions allowed him to control the game – which is exactly what he did.

“He controlled the tempo of the game, there was some great kicking and he deserves all the plaudits he gets.”
