Huddersfield Giants coach Paul Anderson faces rivals Leeds Rhinos in a position of strength in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup.

Aside from long-term casualties Brett Ferres and Chris Bailey, the Giants have a fully fit squad as they head for Headingley in the sixth round of the knockout competition following their 19-0 Super League success in the last round of Super League away at Salford Red Devils.

And the televised showdown on Saturday (2.30) has Anderson buzzing with anticipation.

“From my point of view going to Headingley holds no fear,” he said.

“How can it? It is a great stadium, there will be loads of noisy fans and we are facing a Leeds side who are in form.

“They are top of Super League, which is no fluke, and as new are fourth we are a little behind them.

“I do see us as underdogs, but we just have to focus on what we do ourselves on what is a great stage.”

The Giants lost narrowly 28-24 at Leeds in Super League this season before the two sides drew 24-24 at the John Smith’s Stadium just two weeks ago and Anderson added: “We gifted Leeds some chances in the last two games.

“But the simple fact is that we need to produce the performance to ensure that we are in the next round.”

And Anderson takes his team to Headingley in a position of strength.“We came through unscathed and we are strong going to Leeds,” said Anderson.

“What matters is that we go to Leeds on Saturday and ensure that we do what we want and win the game.”
