NATHAN BROWN is hoping the Huddersfield Giants’ excellent Super League record against Hull KR can continue this weekend.

Huddersfield head to Craven Park on Sunday (3.00) looking to secure a seventh win from eight starts to keep them top of the Super League XVII table.

It’s a contest the Giants are expected to win, with their hosts having two wins and a draw from their opening fixtures under new head coach Craig Sandercock.

And recent history also points to an away win.

The Giants have won seven of the last eight games against the Robins (with the other having been drawn), including the last three on the east coast.

But Brown is refusing to take anything for granted.

“Our record is a good one against them, and we’ve generally had some tough battles when we’ve played over there,” said Brown, who has already made it clear there will be few changes to the side that thrashed Castleford Tigers 42-4 at the Galpharm a week ago.

“We certainly don’t expect this weekend’s game to be any less tough, even though they’ve changed their style of play and haven’t yet gained too many rewards.

“But they seem to be adapting to what their new coach is doing, and they were a little unlucky to lose out in France last weekend (they were beaten 20-12 by in-form Catalan Dragons).

“It was clear from that performance they are a dangerous team and Craig has brought in players who give you a great deal to think about with the way they attack you.

“Their South Sea Islanders are a handful and their new full-back Shannon McDonnell has got bags of pace.

“Under the more structured way they used to play (under previous coach Jason Morgan), it used to be a case that if you shut down Michael Dobson you’d go a long way to beating them. Not any more.

“They’ve now got three or four players in different positions who can cause you problems, and moving Craig Hall to stand-off has added a bit of creativity.

“They were a good team before and they’re a good team now. They present you with a different type of challenge, and it should be a good test.”

Brown has already hinted former Hull FC utility man Tommy Lee could again get the nod over Shaun Lunt for sharing the hooker role with Luke Robinson this weekend.

And in-form forward Jacob Fairbank looks to be facing a race against time to prove he has made a full recovery from the wrist injury which forced him to miss the Castleford win.
