JACOB FAIRBANK is poised to make his eagerly awaited Huddersfield Giants return in Sunday’s Super League clash at Widnes.

The 21-year-old utility forward has been sidelined for ten weeks with a badly broken wrist, but he is now back to full fitness and looking to build on an outstanding start to the season when he featured in five of the Giants opening six top flight encounters.

At the same time, however, Giants coach Nathan Brown confirmed hooker David Faiumu will miss the match at the Stobart Stadium after picking up a couple of knocks in Sunday’s 38-34 Magic Weekend defeat at the hands of Salford City Reds.

Centre Joe Wardle is also sidelined with a groin injury.

With skipper Kevin Brown serving a one-match ban, head coach Brown intends to bring back rested trio Lee Gilmour, Aaron Murphy and Larne Patrick for the trip to Cheshire.

“It will be good to see Bobbie (Fairbank) back on the field after what has been a really frustrating time for him,” said Brown, who also revealed hooker Tommy Lee could be back the following week after a knee injury on Easter Monday.

“He made an outstanding start to the season and it would be great to think he can carry on from where he left off.”
