Huddersfield Giants hooker Kyle Wood faces a long road back to fitness after being counted out through until January.

The 25-year-old, who is in his second spell with the club, ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament during the Giants 38-16 home victory over Catalan Dragons and will not take any further part this season.

Giants head coach Paul Anderson said: "He has been one of our better players this season and has been a good 'go-forward' man for us."It is sad for him and disappointing for the club, but we will rally round him and he will be back."

The Giants will also go into Sunday's away derby at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats without England centre Leroy Cudjoe, who has a hip injury and missed the Catalan win, but long-term absentee hooker Shaun Lunt is set for a return after a nagging calf problem.
