CAUTIOUS Paul Anderson knows the Huddersfield Giants must pass another big test of attitude to ensure they don’t suffer a big Tetley’s Challenge Cup upset.

Anderson’s second-placed Super League XVIII side face a tough fourth-round test at in-form Championship club Batley Bulldogs on the weekend of April 20-21 (the date and kick-off time has still to be finalised following yesterday’s draw).

It’s a repeat of the fourth-round tie on May 8, 2011, when the Giants came back from 18-10 behind midway through the second half to win 28-18 .

Anderson was assistant coach to Nathan Brown on that occasion, and admits it proved an uneasy 80 minutes.

And he’s determined to do everything within his power to make sure something similar doesn’t happen second time around against the club who have now forged a partnership with the Super League Giants.

“It’s a tricky one, and another that’s going to test our attitude,” said Anderson, whose opponents set up the tie after their 72-0 home destruction of Gateshead Thunder on Sunday.

“Two years ago we went there with a strong team and very nearly got beaten because our attitude wasn’t right.

“Many of the players who are here now were part of that team, so they know exactly what to expect and how they’ll need to be at their best.

“And when Batley have a coach like John Kear in charge, whose Cup heroics as a coach are legendary, we all know how much of a genuine danger they’ll be.”
