Vastly-experienced Luke Robinson believes the Huddersfield Giants are capable of almost anything if they can play with even more consistency.

Although Huddersfield have suffered just one defeat in their last 10 Super League fixtures and are guaranteed a top-four finish with wins in their final three games of the regular season at St Helens and Catalans Dragons and at home to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, the 30-year-old hooker is still not over-impressed with the form his side has been showing.

But Robinson knows that if the Giants can finally get their act together, starting with Friday’s trip to reigning champions St Helens, they ‘ll give themselves a genuine chance of reaching a first Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

“We may be winning games on a regular basis, but I don’t think anyone’s that happy with the way we’ve been going,” said Robinson.

“Overall, we’ve been defending pretty well and have shown some good patches in attack.

“But we’ve still not played well for the full 80 minutes, and that’s something we obviously need to address.

“We need to be a lot more consistent in what we do, and when that’s the case we know we’ll be even more difficult to beat.

“Hopefully, now we’ve got an almost full-strength squad at our disposal, the performances will get even better and that big finish to the season will be guaranteed.”

And with plenty of options available at hooker – with Robinson, Jamie Ellis, Kruise Leeming and Kyle Wood all vying for a No9 starting spot – the former England ace knows he’s going to need to keep on his toes,

“Kruise has been fantastic for us at hooker over the past month,” added Robinson.

“But he obviously missed out to Woody against Hull KR, and Woody came back and made a massive impact for us off the bench.

“They’ll both be in the frame for Saints this week, while Jamie can also slot in at hooker if required.

“Because of that, I know I can’t afford to let my own standards slip.”
