Ryan Hinchcliffe is ready to go to work for Huddersfield Giants.

The 31-year-old hooker will begin pre-season training with the Giants on Monday having joined the club from Australian NRL outfit Melbourne Storm.

Hinchcliffe will get down to training along side World Cup winner and Giants other major new signing from down under Sam Rapira.

The 28-year-old Kiwi international joins from New Zealand Warriors and has signed a two-year contract.

Rapira arrived with his young family this week and said: “It’s good to be here after a long journey. The flight was good and I suppose not knowing what to expect probably did us a favour.

“My two young daughters were well behaved and we’re all pleased to get here.”

After meeting club officials Rapira was looking forward to getting started and added: “The club has a good set-up and everyone has been really helpful and supportive, so they’ve made everything pretty easy so far.

“I’m just looking forward to just getting to training. We have a Saturday session but it will kick-off fully on Monday.”

Huddersfield Giants new signing Sam Rapira

After 10 years at the Warriors, Rapira is looking towards the new challenge and insisted the weather wasn’t a problem.

“We are looking forward to embracing the full experience, we half expected it to be cold, but our winters are cold back home too,” said Rapira.

“It’s a new club for me and I’ve just got to do my best, I’ve got to try and earn the boys respect and do what is good for the team.

“We want to get settled in, get to know everyone and hopefully I can bring to the team what I do well.

“Pre-season is always the hardest but that is where you get all the gains and I’m really looking forward to it – I’m excited to be here.”
