Huddersfield Giants captain Danny Brough has praised the attitude and commitment of his teammates after the first full week of pre-season training.

Despite spending the autumn leading Scotland to European Championship glory, Brough has played a full part in Huddersfield’s early work in the build-up to Super League XX.

The 31-year-old half-back went straight from the Scotland rugby league camp to the Giants’ three-day army camp in Catterick.

But rather than focusing on his own dedication to the Giants’ cause – his Scotland duties mean he won’t be having a break until mid December – he’s saved all his praise for his club colleagues.

“I’ve been really impressed with the way everyone’s got stuck in from day one,” said the goalkicking ace.

“The training’s been good and of a very high quality.

“All the boys look in good shape and there’s already a great deal of excitement about our prospects for next season.

“The new boys have also settled in really well (Jamie Ellis, Craig Huby, Jack Hughes and Oliver Roberts), and will be very strong additions to the squad.

Jack’s obviously been here for less time than the other new boys (he didn’t complete his loan move from Wigan until after the army camp trip), but in the very short time he’s been here he’s shown up well in training.”
