Cautious Luke Robinson has warned the Huddersfield Giants not to get too carried away as they look to move a step closer to reaching a first Super League Grand Final.

Victory at home to Castleford Tigers in Thursday’s big Super 8s clash would strengthen Huddersfield’s claims for a top-three finish and a place in the play-off semi-finals.

With three defeats and two draws in the last 17 League fixtures, the Giants have emerged as one of the main players in the race for Old Trafford on Saturday, October 10.

But Robinson has made it clear that dreaming of reaching the Grand Final is the last thing on the players’ minds right now.

“It’s all about Castleford on Thursday and making sure we go out there and get the job done,” said the former Tigers half-back.

“Obviously, our ultimate aim is to reach Old Trafford and lift the Super League trophy.

“And that particular dream does still remain very much alive going into the game.

“But we know we can’t afford to get too carried away.

“Yes, we’ve got a decent run of results behind us and were boosted by a great win at Saints the last time out (28-22, 12 days ago), but that counts for very little at this stage.

“We know if we don’t focus 100% on Castleford, we could be in serious trouble against them.

That’s why talking about Old Trafford is something no-one in the squad is prepared to do at the moment.”
