Huddersfield Giants chiefs are looking for Anthony Mullally’s loan move to Bradford Bulls to help develop him into an even more effective Super League prop.

The 22-year-old made nine senior appearances for Huddersfield in his debut season last year (with eight from the bench).

And despite being 18th man for the Giants’ opening-night triumph at Wigan Warriors 12 days ago, Mullally’s chances of a first-team start in the short term weren’t rated highly, with an appearance in Sunday’s opening home game against Hull KR a non-starter.

Eorl Crabtree, Craig Kopczak and Antonio Kaufusi are the established front-row leaders, with the likes of Ukuma Ta’ai, David Faiumu and Jason Chan proving impressive back-up.

But with the Ireland international in line to make his Bradford debut in tomorrow’s Super League clash at Wakefield, the Giants believe the one-month deal is a win-win situation.

“Anthony clearly needs to be playing week in week out and there is a great chance for him at the Bulls,” explained managing director Richard Thewlis.

“There is nothing that beats playing to test the players out and this is a great chance for Anthony to show how he has developed through his World Cup experience and another off season.

“The initial plan is for a month and then assess the situation from there, but this is a great opportunity for Anthony to play regularly in Super League.”
