Anthony Mullally believes the pressure to retain a Giants Super League spot has done wonders for his game.

The 23-year-old front-row forward has taken a magnificent lead up front in Huddersfield’s last two games to help his side secure wins over Widnes and Wakefield.

Those have put him in a strong position to keep his place for Thursday’s trip to Warrington Wolves as the Giants look to maintain their top-four challenge.

But the Ireland World Cup prop has admitted he’s taking nothing for granted.

“I have been happy with the way I’ve played over the past few weeks,” said Mullally.

“I’d like to think that’s put me in a strong position to play at Warrington, but I know it’s not as simple as that.

“Because of the quality of the forwards we’ve got here, you’re never certain of a place. Even though I felt my performance in the win at Wakefield the other week was pretty strong, I didn’t feel that confident about retaining my place.

“I know the only way of guaranteeing a regular spot is playing well and then be prepared to put in the extras at training.

“It means you have to focus even more and work harder to try and keep on improving, and that’s the best possible way of bringing the best out of your game.

“I certainly think it’s working for me.”
