FORWARD Andy Raleigh was the first Giants player to suffer Wembley disappointment this weekend.

The 28-year-old hometown product was not named in coach Nathan Brown’s 19-man squad ahead of the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final against Warrington Wolves tomorrow.

Raleigh, out for eight weeks with an Achilles tendon injury, returned to action only last week in the 12-10 Super League defeat at St Helens and had hoped that his performance against the table-toppers had done enough to secure a place in the squad for the final – but he will sit out the Giants big day.

Warrington coach Tony Smith praised the Wolves fans as they left the Halliwell Jones Stadium yesterday on their way to their pre-match base for the Wembley showdown.

"The support we’ve been given already has been massive but it will be significant on the day," said the former Giants coach.

"The amount of support you have will have an impact on how the team plays, whether you like it o r not. It’s going to make for a great atmosphere and a great occasion.

"We’ll be out there doing our best to reward that support with the best performance we can, and if we come up with that we’ll have a fair chance of success.

"I look forward to it, it should be a great way to celebrate altogether."
