WITH the Giants designating tomorrow’s home Super League clash against Bradford Bulls as their ‘Sporting Memories’ fixture, leading club figures have been asked to recall their favourite moments.

This is what some of them had to say.

Leroy Cudjoe:“My greatest memory for Giants was when we won the play-off game at Warrington in 2010.

“I scored a 90m interception in the final moments of the game.

No-one expected us to win, the boys played really well.

“But for me, the thrill and the buzz I got from the fans, teammates and staff while running down that wing to score and celebrating with the fans was amazing.

“A memory I’ll always remember.”

Michael Lawrence: “One my best Giants memories was making my debut against Warrington Wolves back in 2007 as a 17-year-old and beating them.

“In the process I became the first player born in the 90s to play Super League!”

Chris Thorman:“My greatest memory of my time with the Giants was when I captained the side to its first Challenge Cup final in over 40 years.

“I’ve never been one for holding on to memorabilia from my playing career because the vivid memories of experiences like this far outweigh material possessions.

“Playing in front of so many people with a group of teammates you would gladly go to war with and the culmination of years of hard work will live with me forever.”

Stuart Fielden:“The Super League Grand Final for Bradford in 2005 is the one for me, simply because so many players who had been at the club for a long time had left.

“We were beaten by a lot of teams that we shouldn’t have been beaten by and then we went and beat Leeds away, then won the following 12 games and came from fifth to finish third and won the Grand Final.”

Eorl Crabtree:“The Challenge Cup semi-final win over Leeds Rhinos at Odsal in 2006 will always be incredibly special.

“That stands out in my memory because it was a game that no-one expected us to win.

“Everyone wrote us off and we managed to get through the game and go to our first major final in a very long time.

“They were a great set of lads, and they are people that I respect very much.

“That’s why they were the best days of my life.”
