Giants coach Paul Anderson has labelled tonight’s home Super 8s clash against Castleford Tigers as ‘massive’.

Victory for Huddersfield would take them to the brink of the play-off semi-finals and keep alive the Giants dream of a first Super League Grand Final appearance.

Anderson knows his third-placed side can’t afford to get too carried away at this stage.

But he’s fully aware of the significance of beating the fifth-placed Tigers tonight (8.00).

“This is a massive game for us, there’s no doubt about it,” said the John Smith’s Stadium chief.

“If we do what we need to do and get the win, we’ll be four points clear of Castleford with three Super 8s games to go.

“Cas still have some really tricky games to play – as we all do, to be honest – so we know tonight’s game is a great opportunity for us to go a long way to securing what we’re ultimately here for, a semi-final spot.

“Our win at St Helens in our last game (28-22 at Langtree Park a fortnight ago) has further strengthened our position, and the challenge is for everyone to improve on their performance that night to make us even stronger collectively.

“If we do that, then we know we’ll put ourselves in an excellent position.”
