Paul Anderson is confident Huddersfield Giants will find playing on Widnes Vikings’ artificial pitch to their liking.

The majority of Widnes’s wins in Super League have been secured at their Select Security Stadium, with impressive home successes having been secured at the likes of second-placed Leeds, fifth-placed Castleford and sixth-placed Warrington in 2015.

But with the Giants boosted by Sunday’s battling 30-19 home triumph over Warrington when their more mobile line-up took the game away from the Wolves in the final quarter, Anderson is convinced his fourth-placed side can kick-on this weekend and maintain their top-four challenge.

“The key when you go to Widnes and play on their pitch is obviously to make sure you adapt to it,” said Anderson, whose side would move seven points clear of ninth-placed Widnes with just four games of the regular top-flight season remaining with a win this weekend.

“But I think it might help us playing on an artificial surface because it should lead to a fast-flowing game.

“I thought that when our game against Warrington on Sunday speeded up in the last 20-25 minutes we really got some momentum and looked good off the back of it.

“So, hopefully, we can do something similar against Widnes this weekend, because the key for us is to make sure we build on what was such a big, big win for us the other day.”
