Huddersfield Giants have finally unveiled Jodie Broughton in the claret and gold.

The 25-year-old former Salford winger arrives at the Super League Leaders’ Shield winners on a four-year deal.

The Leeds-born Broughton has pace to burn, having been named the fastest man in Super League in 2011, and is also an outstanding finisher, with 56 tries from 77 top-flight appearances.

And delighted Giants coach Paul Anderson believes these attributes make Broughton, who has been linked with the move for months, a vital Giants signing.

“Jodie has a fantastic attribute we’ve been lacking over the last few years – genuine speed,” said Anderson, who has also brought in experienced London Broncos forwards Chris Bailey and Antonio Kaufusi for 2014.

“He is definitely going to add to our options and there will be some very strong competition for places in this area.

“He is versatile and can play on the left or right, on the wing or in the centre.

“Jodie is a competitor, and he’s got a real appetite to learn and do well.

“He’s got his best football in front of him and we’re confident we can improve him technically, tactically and physically.”

Broughton will join his new teammates for the start of pre-season training on November 11, and can’t wait to get started.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be part of this club for the next four years,” said Broughton.

“I had a few options on the table but I knew Huddersfield were the club for me. Their vision for the future really excited me and I want to be playing play-off rugby and pushing for the England squad.

“I think I’ll settle in nicely here and it’ll help me demonstrate my full potential, which I don’t  think we have seen yet.”
