Having a short turnaround in games is the only positive the Huddersfield Giants can take away from their demoralising Super League XXI trip to Widnes Vikings.

That’s the view of head coach Paul Anderson after seeing his Huddersfield side’s hopes of clawing their way into the Super 8s mix suffering a huge blow with the 24-20 defeat at the Halton Stadium.

The second-bottom Giants have the chance to make amends on Friday with the home clash against

Castleford Tigers, when the influential Danny Brough is expected to be fit to play after suffering a dead leg in the closing moments of Sunday’s game.

And not having too long to dwell on the events at Widnes is something Anderson feels is a positive.

“The five-day turnaround is the only positive I can take from the Widnes game,” said Anderson.

“Regardless of where we are, we have to crack on and keep fighting every day, and it’s good that we’ve only got to wait until Friday night to get back out there and put things right.

“We’ve got to make sure we come into training and do the best we possibly can every day, because every day is an opportunity to improve.

“We went to Widnes on Sunday and undid all the improvements we saw against St Helens at Magic Weekend the week before, so Friday night is the opportunity to improve once again and get things back on track.”
