Chris Bailey thinks tackling one of Super League’s form sides should hold no fear for the mis-firing Giants.

In fact, he believes the timing of Friday’s home clash against Leeds Rhinos couldn’t be better.

While Leeds have opened their 2014 campaign with an 18-12 home win over Warrington Wolves and away victories at Hull KR (34-6) and Catalan Dragons (40-12), the Giants have a win, draw and loss to their name.

Huddersfield’s latest performance was the worst, suffering a shock 22-20 defeat at Widnes Vikings five days ago.

But having hit top form to win 24-8 at champions Wigan on the opening night a month ago, Bailey believes the prospect of facing another of Super League’s super powers will help the Giants get out of their recent slumber and re-discover the form that destroyed the Warriors

“Leeds are going to be tough,” said the Australian back-row forward, who has settled in well since arriving from London Broncos for the start of the season.

“They were impressive at home to Warrington and have secured two good away wins at Hull KR and Catalan Dragons.

“They’re probably the form form side so far this season, along with St Helens.

“It’s going to be a great battle, and just the sort of challenge we need right now.

In the home draw against Hull KR and the defeat at Widnes the other night, we threw away leads because of our own mistakes.

“And that’s down to concentration. We’ve been taking our foot off the accelerator and letting teams in, and you just can’t do that.

“Hopefully, the fact we’ve got a quality in-form side like Leeds on Friday means we’ll have fixed this up, because we know what could happen if we don’t.”
