Craig Kopczak can’t wait to face former club Bradford next weekend after helping the Huddersfield Giants make it four Super League wins on the trot at London Broncos.

The Wales World Cup captain was at the heart of a tough forward battle as Huddersfield were forced to dig deep to secure a hard-fought 30-16 triumph at a rain and windswept Hive.

But even though the Giants were red-hot favourites to collect the League points against a London side who went into the contest having lost their opening 11 games, Kopzcak still feels the win will have done his side a power of good.

“That was a really tough game, and obviously for a whole host of reasons,” said the 27-year-old prop.

“Even though we were expected to beat them, we never thought it was going to be easy.

“And when you think about all the things we had to overcome, we’re really happy as a group to have won this game.

“Even though we weren’t at our best, we found a way to win by grinding it out, and winning under those sort of circumstances doesn’t do you any harm at all.

“To win when you’re facing a side that’s fired-up after changing their coach, to lose two of your backs in the first 15 minutes – I’ve never known anything like that before – and to also have to play when it’s torrential rain one minute, heavy wind the next and then sunny, is a pretty special effort.

“It’ll do us a power of good going into the Magic Weekend game at the Etihad next Sunday.”

And the fact it’s against former club Bradford is far from at the forefront of Kopzcak’s thoughts.

“I’m really looking forward to this one,” he added.

“And it’s not just because it’s against the Bulls. That’s not what it’s all about for me.

“The Magic Weekend is a great occasion and the Etihad Stadium is a fantastic venue. It’s not a venue where we want to go and lose.

“But I’m confident we won’t, even though it’s going to be another tough one for us.

“We’ve now made it four wins on the trot and just shown a lot of character to dig deep in the face of a lot of adversity.

“That’s put us in a great frame of mind for this weekend.”
