Hi, it’s Eorl here.

Well what a win it proved to be at home to Warrington last weekend!

There were thrills and spills aplenty, with the odd bout of fisticuffs thrown in for good measure.

I was obviously right at the forefront of that with my set-to with Chris Bridge.

Because I’ve not been involved in anything quite like that before, many people have asked me what it was all about.

Well, I think, on the part of Chris, it was borne out of pure frustration.

If you remember, it all happened just as Jodie Broughton was scoring his early second-half try.

After I had found Danny Brough with a pass, Chris brought me down, there were a few elbows flying around and then we started pushing and shoving each other.

He then threw a punch at me, and it all kicked-off. I’m just glad none of his punches landed, even though I’ve got quite a hard head anyway!

But within seconds, everyone else became involved and it soon looked like a big bar room brawl.

And that was that between me and Chris.

In fact, straight after the game we had a good laugh about it.

For those who can think quite a long way back, Chris and me used to be teammates in the Giants Academy and have always got on well.

I think that’s why we found the whole incident amusing, and why I know his actions were down to the frustration he, and the rest of his Warrington teammates, are feeling at the moment.

It’s just not happening for them in Super League right now, which is why Chris reacted like he did when he knew he’d been unable to prevent a try which was about to put his opponents on top.

I’m in no way condoning what went on out there – seeing mass brawls doesn’t reflect well on the game – but when we play such a physical contact sport and the stakes are so high, emotions do sometimes boil over.

I suppose it did show just how much winning means to us at the moment, because it’s so tight towards the top end and the race to get into the top four is so fierce.

The contest was also quite an intense affair, with us desperate to secure our first Super League double over Warrington.

And the fact things ended up going in our favour has definitely gone done well at our end and given us an extra spring in our step ahead of another tough game at Widnes.
