Huddersfield Giants rising star Jake Connor is expecting Huddersfield to fight fire with fire against Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

The rivals clash in the final round of Super 8s matches at the John Smith’s Stadium with the winner set to take a home draw in the Super League semi-finals – and possibly even top the table.

The 20-year-old centre, who bagged two tries in the Giants 34-20 win at Hull FC, is well aware of the Rhinos’ threat, but feels the Giants offer just as much in attack.

“It is going to be a massive game and the matches between us always tend to be close,” said Connor.

“We know what we are up against and they have got some very dangerous players. With the likes of Ryan Hall, Kallum Watkins and others, they can hurt you from anywhere on the pitch.

“But it is up to us to find a way to stop them and the focus has to be on this game – we can think about the semi-finals later.”

Connor and wing partner Aaron Murphy – who also scored – linked well for three tries at the KC Stadium, and Connor is confident they will continue to take their chances.

“It just comes down to talking to each other really,” said Connor.

“Broughy throws those long balls out and we hang around, look for the offloads and, really, it is about Aaron and myself waiting and trying to use the space as well as we can.”
