World-class winger Jermaine McGillvary intends to get even better in 2016.

The 27-year-old finished the 2017 campaign as the competition’s top tryscorer to earn a place in the Super League Dream Team and then went on to make his full England debut in the 2-1 Test-series triumph over New Zealand before he was named in the World XIII.

That fairytale ending to the year has taken his confidence to an all-time high.

And he intends to use that to his advantage in Super League XXI, with his dominant displays in the Giants’ two pre-season trial triumphs (38-6 at Hull KR and 28-16 at home to Catalans Dragons) suggesting that could be the case.

“Confidence-wise, I’ve never felt this good,” said McGillvary, whose Giants open their Super League 2016 account at St Helens next Friday.

“Self-belief is something I may have lacked a bit in the past, but I now know I’m capable of more than I ever thought possible before.

“Obviously, I know I’m far from perfect as a player and I’m far from being the best.

“But with the finish I had to the season and with the way things went in the trials, I’m confident I can be even better next season.

“I can’t wait to test myself out and build on what I’ve already achieved.”
