Huddersfield Giants’ International centre Leroy Cudjoe is set to extend his stunning run of consecutive Super League outings to 62 games against Wakefield Trinity on Sunday.

Hometown product Cudjoe, who holds the current longest run of consecutive appearances among Super League players, last missed a Giants game on September 16 , 2011 – a 47-0 play-off defeat at Warrington Wolves.

His streak then started on September 23 , 2011 – a 34-28 home play-off loss to Leeds – but his record illustrates the consistency that has been at the heart of the Giants drive to the top of the table this season.

“One of the major factors this season is that we have been able to show a lot of consistency in selection,” said head coach Paul Anderson.

“We have managed that because we have worked hard to keep the players healthy.

“And that is down to a lot of people who do our conditioning, our medical people and what we do football-wise as coaches.

“That we are at the top of the table is a credit to the whole organisation on those three fronts.

“The whole unit has worked well together and also the players have all bought into what we are trying to achieve.”

And another model of consistency has been skipper Danny Brough.

The half back currently has the longest scoring streak in Super League, having registered points in the Giants’ last 23 matches.

Brough’s scoring streak began with a try and four goals in his side’s 32-8 win at Leeds on March 8.
