Hi, it’s Luke here.

And I hope you all enjoyed the game at Leeds as much as we, the players, did.

It was one of those games where it obviously could have gone either way, although I thought we did deserve it.

Clearly, the main talking point was the decision not to allow Tom Briscoe’s try after the final hooter had sounded.

Personally, I thought it was the right call. You can shoulder charge an opponent when you’re both heading in the right direction.

But Briscoe lifted his arm to get ahead of Broughy in the chase to touch the ball down, and that proved the critical mistake for him.

I also thought the video referee was right to rule out Jodie Broughton’s ‘try’ for obstruction in the second half.

That was scored after Broughy’s ‘pass of the season’ to send Jodie away, and if it had been given it would have sealed the win for us a lot earlier.

But my biggest memory of that moment was the reaction of Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield to the pass.

Before the video ref call had been made, Kev past by Broughy and said ‘fantastic pass, mate’, even though it potentially put the final nail in the Rhinos’ coffin on the night.

That’s the mark of the man, although such sporting gestures aren’t that uncommon in the heat of battle.

Everyone goes on about the needle that exists in the game, but there’s also a lot of great sportsmanship, with this being just one of many examples.

One incident from my own personal experience came in our home win over Castleford earlier in the season.

I put on a great hit to put their beast of a winger Justin Carney flat on his backside.

I’m sure he didn’t like it.

But immediately he said to me ‘great hit, mate,’ and we just got straight on with the game.

These are the many things fans just aren’t made aware of, with 100 incidents a game that fly under the radar.

There are many other examples I could mention, such as the time when Shaun Lunt was seen tying up his boot laces after a scrum had broken up against Wakefield on Easter Monday.

He obviously shouldn’t have done that, but had no choice after his good mate, Andy Raleigh, craftily untied his laces as they packed down!

There’s also a lot of sledging that goes on, too.

But, overall, it’s not malicious and is part and parcel of the game.

And I believe that’s why the bond between players is so strong.
